I read somewhere that tomorrow is Quitting Day. Apparently the second Friday in January is when most people give up on their New Year’s Resolutions. I’m determined to do the opposite. In addition to focusing on the goals I set out here, I am actually taking this week to start re-establishing good habits. I kinda fell off the workout train but am determined to get back on track and have already logged some good exercise. I’m also trying to plan ahead when it comes to weekend activities with Finn and keeping up with my 1 Second Everyday app. So far, 2024 is off to a good start.

I feel like January is typically on the calmer side. Everyone wants to rest after attending tons of holiday parties and is ready to get back on track with clean eating and exercise. Seems we’re taking the opposite approach. Every weekend this month is booked with fun activities, starting with a bar mitzvah in Atlanta this past weekend. The bar mitzvah boy was my cousin Natalie’s (the oldest Konter grandkid and only other girl) son and it blows my mind that our generation is old enough to have kids getting bar mitzvah’d. It was a wonderful weekend – Nate did such a wonderful job reading from the torah and I absolutely loved that allll my fam was in the same place at the same time. Us cousins are incredibly close so getting to dance and celebrate together for a full weekend was a dream. It was also Albert’s first bar mitzvah – and his first time in a synagogue aside from our wedding (which had a lot of Catholics) – and I think he did great! It’s a lot to take in, both the culture and my big loud family, but he handled it like a champ. I can’t get over seeing the next generation of cousins behaving JUST like we always did.

I’ll be posting the recipe soon but this week I made homemade cheesy gordita crunches for Taco Tuesday. Taco Bell is my guilty pleasure and when I realized this favorite menu item was super easy to make at home, I was on board. It was so delicious and satisfied every craving.

Like I said, I’m trying to recommit to the gym (yes, like everyone else). When our building’s gym was just closed due to a leak, I took the opportunity to hit up Barry’s. It’s been a long time since I took a workout class and I loved it.
